Cycle route over the Salland Ridge
Holten, Rijssen, Markelo
That the nature of Overijssel is stunning we all know. A large part of this cycle route you cycle through one of these beautiful nature areas, namely the well-known Sallandse Heuvelrug. This national park covers some 35 square kilometres and has a varied landscape of forest, heathland and sand drifts.
Holterberg is part of the ridge, which consists of more ‘mountains’. This is an excellent place to start your route at the TOP car park. To learn all about this area, visit the Holterberg Nature Museum. Housed in a former country house, the museum has a large collection of animals, plants and minerals. At the museum, you can also see a large collection of fossils from the area.
De Borkeld is actually a nature reserve within a nature reserve and consists mainly of heathland. Meet the sheep flock at the Schaapskooi, located at junction 09.
