Cycle route over the Hill Ridge near Zeist
Zeist, Austerlitz, Woudenberg
Start (early in the morning) the cycle route through the Utrechtse Heuvelrug near Zeist and learn more about this area. In 2003 the Utrecht Ridge, which is the second largest forest area in the Netherlands after the Veluwe, was declared a National Park. The Utrecht Ridge is about ten thousand acres and consists of forest, heath, grass and sand drifts. Its height differences make it a particularly attractive area.
One of the first points of descent, with its impressive appearance and rich history, is Slot Zeist. Along the way, you will also pass by Buitenplaats Sparrendaal estate. Add this dismount or one of the many other dismounts to your bike route to make a day out of it.
Furthermore, you will pass the Pyramid of Austerlitz. The pyramid is a monument built to commemorate Napoleon Bonaparte's victory at the Battle of Austerlitz in 1805. Located in the village of Austerlitz, the monument stands in the middle of a rural park with several castles, gardens and other beautiful buildings.
This is also an excellent route during a vacation at RCN Holiday Park Het Grote Bos in Doorn. From the vacation park you are directly on the junction route.
