Cycle route over Lemelerberg
Ommen, Nieuwleusen, Holt
Set off on this varied cycle route through the Vecht valley. While overlooking the Overijsselse Vecht, you will encounter almost all Dutch landscapes along the way.
The landscape of nature reserve Lemelerberg is very diverse. The land of Lemelerberg used to be a dry nature reserve, so farmers did not cultivate it. Sheep were allowed to graze on the heath, causing the heath to be eaten away in some places and sand flats to form. To prevent these sand flats from drifting, conifers were planted, creating a very varied nature area.
With a selection of moors and villages, you would almost wonder where you are. With the special estates, the river and the vistas along the route with old farms, villages and, of course, beautiful sights, you would almost forget that you are cycling in the Netherlands...
