Cycle route of Frisian crafts along the Wadden Sea
Anjum, Holwerd, Ee
While you look out over the water of the Lauwersmeer and the Wadden Sea, you can breathe in the fresh, salty air. The wind blows through your hair when you stand in the harbour of Anjum and you feel the hustle and bustle of the sea come to life. This traditional cycle route will take you back to the time of hard labour in Friesland.
Cycle through the picturesque fishing villages on the Wadden Sea coast. Stop off in Moddergat and visit museum 't Fiskershúske to see how fishermen used to work and how such a village was organised decades ago. The villagescape is beautiful and is even a protected area. In Ee you step into the always open, unmanned flax museum. You will learn all about the flax processing that took place in this region of Friesland until 1960. The Anno 1832 shop completes your nostalgic cycle route: here you will find all kinds of old-fashioned soaps, seaside sweets, tea and more.
Feel like relaxing and getting a breath of fresh air? Expand your cycling trip with a trip to Ameland by ferry from Holwerd, or take a round trip on the Lauwersmeer. Enjoying the Frisian nature and culture, that's all right here!
