Cycle route Nature, play and enjoyment
Amersfoort, Leusden, Stoutenburg
The children want to cycle this route very often and discover a different park each time. What beautiful parks Amersfoort has and what a treat they are for the children. In each of the parks you can learn something, wonder and romp around. Put on old clothes and get dirty in one of the nature playgrounds. Cuddle with the animals or build a hut.
If you plan your route ahead, you might combine it with a puppet theatre performance in Park Randenbroek's Koetshuis, a Viking demonstration in the medieval farmhouse of the Park Schothorst estate, or feeding the animals at Nature Farm de Brinkhorst. But of course, you can also just spontaneously stop anywhere and enjoy whatever is happening.
Besides the parks, the indoor traffic garden the Wagenwerkplaats is a godsend if you find the weather a little less pleasant. The sculpture at your feet along the route is a nice photo opportunity and if you still have too much energy left, you can always climb the tower of Our Lady's Tower. You'll have to book the latter.
Wonderful during this route is the nature reserve de Schammer, between junctions 78 and 96. This beautiful recreational nature reserve is right next to the A28 motorway and is nevertheless an oasis of peace and nature. It is the habitat of many species of insects, birds, plants and mammals. It is definitely worth stopping here as well, taking a photo opportunity at The Window or, in summer, finding a spot among the Leusden people for a short picnic.
You finish the route where you started it, at HEY! Pancake and fair is fair, you have more than earned that pancake after this day.
