Cycle in the far north from Friesland to Groningen, or the other way round, because there you will be more than surprised! A tour around National Park Lauwersmeer will let you catch your breath and enjoy the wonderful nature.

Did you know that in the past both fresh and salt water flooded into each other here in the Lauwerszee? The fear of this flooding caused a dam to be built in 1969. What used to be the sea bed is now the National Park: a beautiful landscape and a paradise for birds, so for bird lovers this is the perfect route. You cycle past two bird huts where you can spot many different species of birds. In one day, you could see up to 30,000 barnacle geese flying overhead!
