Cycle route Looking out in the Achterhoek
Neede, Eibergen, Loohuizen
There are two watchtowers around the Achterhoek village of Neede. One is the nature observation tower on the Needse Berg, located north of the village centre of Neede. It was built in honour of the 100th anniversary of the VVV Neede, which they celebrated in 2018. From this tower you have a wonderful view of another highlight of the Needse Berg area: the Hollandsche Molen (Dutch Mill).
If you cycle to the south of Needen, you will automatically end up at the Stokkersbarg of Eibergen. Although the name Eibergen suggests that it should be at least sloping, this was not the case until the construction of this mountain. The pyramid-shaped hill with a lookout hut was completed in 2019. The way to the lookout hut is quite an experience in itself! Via a sunken gravel path you walk up in a spiral and it seems as if you are walking in a maze. At the top you have a view of the N18 and the vast landscape of Eibergen. Especially for children this is a real must!
Start your cycle route at one of the TOPs. Here you will find ample parking space and you will be on the junction route in no time.
