Cycle route Loenen and Beekbergen
Loenen, Beekbergen, Klarenbeek
At 15 metres, the Loenense Waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Netherlands and is a surprisingly beautiful piece of nature in the Veluwe landscape. The waterfall is located in a wooded area that invites you to stop and take a short walk. The rushing water and surrounding greenery make this a tranquil spot where you start your trip relaxed.
From Loenen, cycle on to Beekbergen, where you can visit the Veluwse Stoomtrein Maatschappij station. This historic Museum Station introduces you to old steam locomotives and train carriages, and the station itself breathes the atmosphere of days gone by.
The last part of the route takes you to the Empese & Tondense Heide and Veen nature reserve. Here you will find a vast heath and moor area where you can take a special walk via a plank path. The path winds through this rare landscape and offers you the chance to experience heathland, moorland and unique plant and animal species up close. After this peaceful, nature-rich conclusion to your tour, you cycle back satisfied.
At the Loenense Waterfall you will also find the hiking car park (Beekbergerweg 49, Loenen), where you can park for your day of cycling if necessary.
