Cycle route Let off steam around Nijkerk
Bunschoten, Putten, Nijkerk
This cycle route leads you for a large part along the Nuldernauw and the Nijkerkernauw, the lakes which separate Flevoland from Gelderland.
Bunschoten is, together with its sister town Spakenburg, mainly known as a fishing village. The fish auction can still be visited. The weekly market is also a must. Every Saturday there are more than 100 stalls with quality articles.
Putten is a cosy, centuries-old village full of history. For nature lovers, Putten has much to offer. For example, have you heard of the Schovenhorst country estate?
Voorthuizen has no fewer than five golf courses within its village boundaries. For lovers of old technology, we have saved the best for last: near Nijkerk is Stoomgemaal Hertog Reijnoud, which bears a striking resemblance to Sinterklaas' gingerbread factory. The pumping station is not only a showpiece of a number of steam enthusiasts, but can also be used for real if necessary. The steam engine from 1882 is well worth a visit.
