Cycle route in the Spring valley
Ootmarsum, Vasse, Hesingen
The Springen valley in the municipality of Tubbergen is an erosion valley in the Ootmarsum moraine and dates back to the Saalien era. The nature reserve is managed by Staatsbosbeheer and is known for its springs, beautiful streams, hills and burial mounds. Because of this, the Springen valley is also known as the 'garden of the Netherlands'.
Spring water springs in three places in this nature reserve, recognisable by the forest lakes. The streams Hazelbekke, Springendalsebeek and Mosbeek originate from these lakes. Take a walk to discover for yourself all the beautiful spots of the Springen valley.
The route from the Springen valley back to Ootmarsum is also beautiful. The rolling landscape is lovely to cycle through and the villages along the way are worth stopping for.
Oud Ootmarsum is well known for its "klootschieten". The village has the largest "klootschiet" club in the country and has its own track for this sport. You may know Ootmarsum for its art galleries and the many artists who live here. After cycling this route, you can imagine where they get their inspiration.
