The Kempen is a sandy region stretching from the northeast of Belgium to the southeast of North Brabant. The sandy soil used to cause a lot of poverty here. The simple smallholders had to work hard to scrape together a living. But this soil also created beautiful forests and heaths that are interspersed with small lakes.

The Kempen region is a huge area and includes various villages and towns. One of these Kempen towns is Bergeijk, a family destination par excellence. The diversity of the village makes it an interesting place for young and old. Bergeijk is artistic and this is evident at the Weaving Mill, where you can also take a stroll past the art objects of Rietveld & Ruys. You can also cycle through greenery and pass the ‘t Loo nature garden along the way.

We recommend that true nature lovers get off their bikes at the TerSpegelt Nature gate. Those with a sweet tooth will be treated to sweets along the way and historians will love the Kempen Museum.
