Cycle route in the Kempenland
Bergeijk, Eersel
The Kempen is a sandy region running from the north-east of Belgium to the south-east of North Brabant. Because of the sandy soil there used to be a lot of poverty. The simple farmers had to work hard to scrape together a living. But this soil has also ensured the creation of beautiful forests and heathland interspersed with fens.
The Kempenland is a vast area and includes several villages and towns. One of these Kempenland towns is Bergeijk, a family destination par excellence. The diversity of the village makes it an interesting place for young and old. Bergeijk is artistic and you can see this at the Weverij, where you can take a walk along the art objects of Rietveld & Ruys. You will also cycle through greenery and pass Nature Garden 't Loo on the way. For the true nature lover, we recommend dismounting from your bike at Natuurpoort TerSpegelt. The sweet tooth will be spoiled with sweets on the way and the historian can indulge himself at the Kempenmuseum.
And sweet tooth, have you tasted enough yet? Do you like sweetmeats and haven't you finished cycling yet? Then visit the Kempisch Bakkerijmuseum De Grenswachter and extend your cycle route by 7 kilometres. In Weebosch, follow junctions 20-24-25-87 and complete your cycle route in a traditional manner!
