Cycle route in the backyard of Harderwijk
Harderwijk, Horst, Zeewolde
The Wolderwijd, which originates from the Veluwe Lake, is loved by locals and tourists alike. The city beach, the renovated boulevard and residential areas on the water make Harderwijk a unique city. With this cycle route, the people of Harderwijk let you enjoy their beautiful backyard.
Start your cycle route from the lively boulevard and cycle through the greenery along the water. If you look closely, you can see the polder landscape of Zeewolde on the other side. It is still far away, but in a few kilometres, you will be cycling there yourself. Let yourself be carried by the wind and cycle along small beaches and parks to Horst. The beaches here are getting bigger and when there is a strong wind, many water sports enthusiasts can be found here. And you will not only find water sportsmen here, because between Horst and Putten, you will also encounter two giant bicycles.
From Horst, the lake narrows and you can see the other side even better, if you wish you can even swim to it. From Nulde, the Wolderwijd becomes the Nuldernauw, the motorway disappears from sight and you return to the peace and quiet of nature.
Cycle through the woods and stop at a nice beach to relax. The cycle route takes you along the port of Zeewolde and if you look closely, you can now see the other side of the Wolderwijd with the skyline of Harderwijk. Cycle over the dike to go back to the Hanseatic city. Time to relax on the cosy city beach!
