Cycle route Historic eye-catchers
Zutphen, Warnsveld, Vorden
This impressive cycle route takes you past the many historical eye-catchers this, already beautiful, area has to offer. A route full of country houses, castles, monuments and museums to get you off your bike.
If you start the route in Vorden, there are already some special sights to hop off for. The historic water mill of Castle Hackfort, for example, or the beautiful Castle Vorden.
The coulisse landscape then brings you to Warnsveld, a village close to Zutphen. Here, visit the monumental Warkense Molen, which is also one of the few bakery museums in the Netherlands!
Hartje Zutphen can actually be called one big monument in itself. You will find magnificent churches, monasteries, ruins, city courts and the beautiful Old Town Hall. But also the Chain Library from the 16th century is a real eye-catcher.
The tour continues towards Bronkhorst, where you can take a look at the chapel and castle ruins. Part of Bronkhorst is a national protected area and the town has no less than 38 national monuments.
After a wonderful tour of Gelderland's history, you return to Vorden.
Tip: You can start your route at De Keuken van Hackfort in Vorden or from TOP Zutphen. At both locations there are ample parking facilities.
