Cycle route Highlights in the Heuvelland

Valkenburg, Vaals, Epen
Far away from the hustle and bustle, the route winds its way through the rolling landscape of South Limburg. The hills between Valkenburg, Vaals, Epen and Gulpen treat you to breathtaking views, picture-perfect villages and special highlights around every bend.
Your adventure kicks off in Schin op Geul, following the tracks of the nostalgic Miljoenenlijn. The old stations of Schin op Geul and Wijlre-Gulpen look like they’ve come straight out of a movie. And who knows, you might just spot the old steam train puffing along today, or at least hear it whistle in the distance.
Just outside Wijlre, the elegant Castle Wylre appears. Grand and mysterious all at once. Not long after, the route takes you to the spiritual heart of South Limburg as you cycle past the impressive Wittem Monastery and the Abbey of St. Benedictusberg near Vaals.
Fancy a proper break? Along the way, you’ll pass two authentic Limburg breweries: the traditional Brand Brewery in Wijlre and the Gulpener Brewery in Gulpen. Try a crisp Ur-Hop or a rich Korenwolf. You’ve earned it!
And for the grand finale, you'll reach the Drielandenpunt: literally the highlight of the trip, where the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany meet. And then… slowly back to the peace of the Limburg hills, with one last stop for a slice of Limburg vlaai in Epen, under a chestnut tree.
