Cycle route Hanseatic city on the Veluwe
Epe, Elburg, ´t Harde
This route takes you across the Veluwe and past the charming Hanseatic town of Elburg. Within the walls of Elburg, time seems to stand still. Elburg was once a fishing and trading town bordering the Zuiderzee. This is still clearly visible in the town. Did you know that Elburg is also known in our country as the town with the most monuments per square kilometre? We have selected some of these monuments for you as pit stops.
Besides picturesque Elburg, this route takes you across one of the most beautiful parts of the Veluwe. A lot through woods and heathland where you can enjoy the beautiful views in peace and quiet and maybe even meet the sheep flock of Epe and Heerde, in action. The area around Epe is home to quite a few interesting pit stops.
Let this also be the habitat of the Wolf. You can recognise the wolf by its long sturdy legs, powerful head with protruding ears, straight back and a thick-haired tail that hangs down or stands straight back, but never curled upwards. In the latter case, you probably encountered a dog. The chances of spotting the wolf are not that high, enjoy it if you observe the special animal at an appropriate distance, but do not actively look for it.
