Cycle route from Dutch mills to a German castle
Bentheim, Denekamp, Bergum
During this cycle route, you will cycle partly through Germany and partly through the Netherlands. From the village of Denekamp, which is close to the border, you cycle almost directly into Germany.
Via beautiful and sometimes old German towns, you cycle south. Through nature, water landscapes and forests, you make your way to a castle. You may already see the castle in the distance. The huge Kruittoren tower is up to 30 metres high and 14x14 metres wide. One of the castle's rooms houses a museum with objects from the castle's history. The imposing building is around 1,000 years old and still in very good condition, definitely worth stepping off!
Back to the Netherlands: via the Lutterzand you cycle back to all the mills and the Dutch landscape. After this cycle route, you can immediately enjoy a Dutch delicacy. Park your bike at Pannenkoekenhuis Bolle Jan to replenish your energy levels!
