Giethoorn is located in the Weerribben-Wieden National Park and offers the perfect living environment for various birds. In the hustle and bustle of the centre of Giethoorn you may not realise it yet, but when you cycle out of the centre you immediately experience the tranquillity of nature.

In this area, large lakes are surrounded by low peat moorland, reed beds and ditches. Many birds love these varying surfaces and like to nest here. It is with good reason that several observation points have been created here to allow you to view these animals up close.

The nature here seems untouched, yet this entire area has been created by human hands. Not only the birds, but also many other animals and special plants have found their way to Weerribben-Wieden. Because of the clean water, even the otter feels at home here.
