Cycle route Exploring the Veluwe forests
Harderwijk
Forest lovers beware! This cycle route takes you through the woods and the lovely outskirts of Harderwijk in less than twenty kilometres. The Veluwe forests are the ideal setting for a cycle route for the whole family and everyone is catered for along the way. You cycle past unique spots, look out over the forest and you can climb among the treetops. Even on solid ground, there are plenty of fun Pit stops along the way. Playing in the woods, taking a walk through nature or resting on a bench? It's all possible.
Meander along the forest paths and also get off your bike several times along the way to check out the forest floor. See the tracks of wildlife? Roe deer and wild boar roam everywhere here and you might just run into them during the day too.
Between Junctions 20 and 50, a huge expanse of sand looms. A Veluwe desert! You have arrived at the Beekhuizerzand, a shifting sand plain of up to 200 hectares. The sand is coloured by purple heather in places, which makes it even more beautiful.
Sand, heather, forest, play, clamber and climb. Both children and adults can't miss out on this cycle route.
