Cycle route Drenthe, there's music in it!

Grolloo, Borger, Eeserveen
The story of Cuby + The Blizzards began in Grolloo, Drenthe, in 1964. The band gave Dutch blues a face. Founder and singer Harry ‘Cuby’ Muskee and guitarist Eelco Gelling, together with their changing line-ups, created a pure, raw sound inspired by greats such as John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters. Their debut album Desolation (1966) established their name, and songs such as Window of My Eyes became classics.
The blues of C+B continued to resonate for years, with a short break in the 80s and a successful comeback afterwards. Until his death in 2011, Muskee continued to perform, driven by his passion for the music. His legacy lives on in the C+B Museum in Grolloo, a place where enthusiasts can experience the history of the band.
This route takes you through the area that inspired Muskee and his bandmates. Cycle past wide fields and wooded paths and experience the peace and space that gave the Drenthe blues its unique character. The route also takes you past Café Restaurant Gerrie, which is rumoured to have been Cuby's favourite café.
Let the music and the landscape carry you away and discover the soul of Dutch blues.
