Cycle route Discover the Dutch Riviera
Spijkenisse, Bernisse
Peace, space, nature, lots of water, vineyards and a big city, are the ingredients of this cycle route that does not go through the French Riviera, but through the Dutch one. Could you foresee that you could enjoy South Holland's Voorne-Putten as if you were in its French equivalent? Of course, a summer sun on a clear blue sky does help to promote this feeling. But all other factors are guaranteed to be present.
Around Spijkenisse you will find a number of city parks such as Park Waterland, Park Braband and the Hartelpark. The town also has a number of locations where you can hire an electric boat, should you wish to admire the region from one of its many waterways. And on the Maasboulevard, off 227, there is a simple observation tower, to see the impressive area from above.
South of Spijkenisse, we also found a couple of interesting locations, fully atmospheric, that complete this day out. For instance, the region is home to a vineyard here, which accounts for just under 12,000 bottles of wine and around 10,000 bottles of cider every year. You can have a look around the vineyard here, but there is also a picking garden and a barefoot trail on the premises.
To remind you that you are still in Dutch countryside, we added another mill and two farm shops to the route.
