Cycle route Deelerwoud and Veluwezoom
Loenen, Harskamp, Hoenderloo
This beautiful cycle route takes you through two nature reserves: National Park Veluwezoom and the Deelerwoud. The latter is less well known but definitely worth a visit. Extensive forests are interspersed with endless heaths. Birds such as the yellowhammer, the wheatear and the raven can be found here. If you continue cycling you will come across the Otterlose Zand, the Kootwijkerzand and the Hoog Buurlose Heide. Each of these unique nature reserves will amaze you.
National Park Veluwezoom offers you all the space you need to explore nature. Both nature reserves are full of wildlife. If you go cycling at sunrise or sunset, you have a chance of coming face to face with large or small game, such as boar and roe deer. In the evening, pine marten, badgers, bats, foxes and owls go in search of food. In September and October, you can hear the rutting of the red deer, a special experience!
Enjoy one of the most beautiful cycling areas in the Netherlands, the Veluwe at its best!
Is 106 kilometres in one day just a bit too much? Near Hoenderloo, you can easily split the route into about 40 km (Harskamp-Deelen-Hoenderloo loop) / about 50 km (Rheden-Loenen-Deelen loop). To do this, follow the route from junction 85-86-23 (or the other way round). Or make it a cycling holiday and add an overnight stay.
