Cycle route Counting sheep in Drenthe

Discover the pearls of Drenthe! Take for instance Het Blauwe Meer, a real blue lake completely surrounded by woods. Or the oldest rotating radio telescope in the world: the Dwingeloo Radiotelescope, which is still in use. On your cycling route, you will also pass the Drents-Friese Wold and Dwingelderveld nature reserves. Along the way, you will of course encounter lots of sheep. Haven't had enough of them yet? Then you can count sheep at the Achter 't Zand sheepfold and Schaapskudde Ruinen while the animals peacefully graze in the Drenthe heathland.
During your route, cycle through the charming brink villages, such as Dwingeloo. The village is characterised by its beautiful nature, magnificent estates and numerous recreational facilities. It is not for nothing that Dwingeloo has been voted the greenest village in the Netherlands. Close to Dwingeloo is the village of Spier, where you will find cycle junctions 43 and 32. That stretch has been voted the most beautiful cycle path in Drenthe. The greenest village and the most beautiful stretch of cycle path together, then the area must be really beautiful. It certainly is!
