Cycle route Blaten in de Borkeld
Diepenheim, Markelo, Goor
Diepenheim is Twente's smallest town and is also called ‘Stedeke’ by its inhabitants. In this town where art and culture are highly valued, you can walk past the most beautiful art galleries. In the past, people in this region lived on a modest scale, which is immediately noticeable when you cycle past the gardens and castles of Weldam Castle and Warmelo Castle.
A little further on, you may already hear them.... Markelo is known for its bleating sheep. In nature reserve de Borkeld, part of the Sallandse Heuvelrug, the local shepherd walks his flock of sheep every day. It is nice to cycle past it, but getting off and taking a walk through the area is even nicer.
Besides the sheepherder's craft, you can also check out other crafts in this region. Take a look at the Wooden Shoes Museum in Goor or let all the beauty in artist town Diepenheim fascinate you.
Hop on your bike if you want to enjoy art, nature and sheep bleating.
Coming by car? Then park your car at Goor Station, Stationslaan 37 Parking or start from the designated TOP Diepenheim.
