Cycle route Along the Vliet and through the Nieuwe Driemanspolder
Zoeterwoude, Leidschendam, Voorschoten
Between Leidschendam-Voorburg, Zoetermeer and Stompwijk, the Nieuwe Driemanspolder was realised in 2020. Where there used to be pastures, it is now an area full of bird ponds, recreation, marshland, plants and animals. During this cycle route, you will cycle along this new nature area.
Stompwijk is a village that lies along the Stompwijkse Vaart, which used to be used by inland skippers. Along the canal, you will see many drawbridges. It is also close to the Starrevaart bird sanctuary, where bird watchers like to bring their binoculars or camera. Voorschoten is also a green municipality. The Duivenvoorde corridor (named after the castle of the same name) is part of the ecological main structure of the Netherlands.
These natural pearls in combination with the cosy, historical centre of Leidschendam make for a wonderfully varied day of cycling!
