Cycle route along the Rhederlaag

The large lake along the IJssel near Rheden and Giesbeek is the Rhederlaag. It has over 350 hectares of water area. This makes it a favourite spot for water sports enthusiasts. But the Rhederlaag is also a wonderful destination for lazing on the beach with an occasional refreshing dip. An ideal place to cool off during your cycle route.
Lathum is a nice village to get off and explore more closely. Doesburg is an old Hanseatic city with many historical landmarks. The city has no fewer than 150 national monuments. Be sure to check out the Waag, the old town hall and the Martini Church here. The Doesburgsche Mosterdfabriek also houses a museum, where you can learn the story one of the most characteristic Doesburg products.
As you cycle to these destinations, you pass through vast farmlands. Enjoy the peace and space, and visit one of the farms along the way.
The lovely water of the Rhederlaag and the banks of the IJssel, together with the historical towns of Gelderland, make this a surprising and varied cycle route!
