Cycle route along flower bulbs and dune hills
Akersloot, Heiloo, Castricum
Noord-Holland is beautiful and certainly this part is very popular with tourists. The Alkmaardermeer is a popular spot for water sports enthusiasts. The lake also offers beautiful views of the water from the bicycle. The village of Heiloo is known for the Onze Lieve Vrouw ter Nood chapel, the history of which goes back to the end of the 14th century. Near this shrine is also the Chapel of Grace with a well that is said to contain healing water. Both chapels are frequently visited by pilgrims.
But Heiloo is also known for its flowering bulb fields. Just to the south of Heiloo is the village of Bollendorp. In Limmen you will find the Hortus Bulborum, a bulb garden with more than 4000 different bulbs. A feast for the eyes when they are in bloom! Besides these tourist attractions, you can also cycle through the dunes of the Noordhollands Duinreservaat.
From the age of 18, you need to buy a ticket for the Noordhollands Duinreservaat. Cycling is allowed on the paved paths, but not or not at all on the unpaved paths until half past 10 in the morning, as indicated by signs and on the PWN walking and cycling map.
