Cycle route above and below the Waal
Beuningen, Druten, Dodewaard
Cycle from here towards the Waal, an 85-kilometre-long river that flows from the Rhine at Pannerden to Merwede at Woudrichem. The river is still frequently used for shipping. So chances are you will be able to admire several large ships during this cycle route.
Along the way, you will cycle through several villages such as Deest, Druten and Dodewaard. To complete the experience of the river landscape, you will cross the Waal with a real foot ferry. The rural surroundings combined with the beautiful views of the water make this cycle route perfect for a relaxing afternoon on the pedals.
Note: There is a foot ferry on this route. It operates from the end of April to October 1. Cycling the route when the ferry doesn't run? Then you can detour via the Tacitus Bridge near Ewijk.
To do so, follow junctions: 80-79-78-82-99 to get back on the route in Beuningen (± 7km extra) (the other way round if you're coming from the other direction), or cut a bit off with junction 82-96 to get back on the route via Ewijk.
