Cycle route A beautiful part of North Holland
Bergen, Hargen aan Zee, Schoorldam, Koedijk
When you cycle here, you suddenly know why painters, writers and architects came to Bergen at the beginning of the last century. You can still find their traces here. Bergen aan Zee is, of course, a well-known seaside resort, but if you cycle on to Hargen aan Zee you will find an equally beautiful beach. And a lot quieter. At Schoorldam, you ride for a while along the Noordhollandsch Kanaal.
If you visit this region in August, you are in luck. On the first Wednesday of August, the residents of Bergen decorate their gardens with lights and lanterns, a very special sight! And on the third Saturday in August, you can enjoy the Gondola Procession in Koedijk, where decorated boats sail along the canals through the village. Gardens, facades and streets are beautifully decorated and illuminated with thousands of lights. Usually, there are also numerous extra activities organised in the village, such as a fair and a sixcamp.
As you will be cycling through the Noordhollands Duinreservaat, we recommend that you read the access rules for this nature reserve in advance at www.pwn.nl/toegangsregels.
