Beer cycle route from Arnhem to Wageningen
Arnhem, Renkum, Wageningen
Beer lovers beware! This cycle route through beautiful forests, countryside and river landscape will take you past points with the tastiest home-brewed beers. In Arnhem, you will visit Brouwerij CC. They use nothing but the pure beer ingredients: water, grains, hops and yeast. No fuss, just beer as it is meant to be. The nice thing is that Brewery CC does not have its own brewhouse. They use the kettles of colleagues, whom they hire. So the beers might just come from Belgian or German soil!
From Arnhem, you cycle through nature to Stadsbrouwerij Wageningen. Here too, the barley beer is brewed with local ingredients. This has resulted in beautiful, tasty beers since 2013. Nice to know: near junction 35 and junction 61, you pass the grain fields where the Stadsbrouwerij grows its grain.
Enjoy beautiful landscapes and historical highlights along the way, such as the castles of Grunsfoort and Doorwerth. But the medieval Historic Cellars are also interesting to visit.
Want a beer to take home? Then browse around De Hoppenaar, a specialty beer shop in Arnhem with shelves full of international and local beers.
Tip: if you want to shorten the route along the way, the best place to do so is near Renkum. Then cycle from junction 87 via 10 to 08 (or vice versa). If you are cycling from Arnhem, the route becomes 34 km with this shortcut. If you cycle from Wageningen and choose this cut-off route, your route will be 23 km.
