A cycle route through Vorden suitable for the whole family. You cycle through the cosy castle village of Vorden and its surroundings, past farmland, through woods and tree-lined avenues. See the enchanting gardens of Buitenplaats De Wiersse. Here you will find a combination of tightly laid-out gardens, grand landscapes, bridges, fountains and statues, a surprise around every corner. More sculptures can be found in Het Heiligenbeeldenmuseum in the centre of Vorden.
Modern art, by Carel Willink (1900-1983) among others, can be seen in museum MORE in the impressive Ruurlo Castle. One of the most beautiful castles in the Netherlands with modern glass elements such as the entrance bridge. A welcome change from cycling and art is the nearby Doolhof Ruurlo, the oldest and largest maze in the Netherlands.
If you still have energy left, the exclusively Achterhoek paintings in the MAS are worth a look and a nice conclusion to an artistic day. Time to get pampered in the hospitable Vorden hospitality industry!
