Nowhere will you find as many different species of birds as in Het Zwin Nature Park. Twice a day, seawater from the North Sea flows into the Zwin area through the Zwin channel. This interplay between sea and land makes this special landscape one of the most important mudflats and salt marshes in Belgium and the Netherlands.
During an exhibition in the visitor centre, you will learn all about the highlights of bird migration. Don't forget to visit the panorama tower. From here you have a 360° view of the beautiful surrounding nature.
Het Zwin is the international airport for birds. The region is the breeding station of the stork and is a protected landscape. From the viewing centre you have a view of the breeding islands and the birds that come here to rest such as oystercatchers, spoonbills, common terns, terns, black-headed gulls and cormorants.
