On the north side of Hilversum Airfield, you will find the traces of a special but fraught history: the foundations of a German bunker from World War II. This bunker, once equipped with anti-aircraft guns, was meant to repel Allied aircraft and played a strategic role in the defence of the airfield. Along the path ‘Rading’ near the stables, you will also pass a collapsed bunker that was part of the airfield's anti-aircraft guns.
The remains of the bunker have become partly overgrown, so look carefully. Before you know it, you'll be cycling past it!
