Heavy fighting took place around Domburg in October and November 1944 to liberate Walcheren. English, Norwegian and Belgian soldiers came from the sea to liberate the population by land, town by town, village by village.
This monument is a special memorial to the Allies who died here during the liberation of Walcheren from German occupation during World War II.
