The mill was built after a standerd mill burned down in 1889. The burned down mill used to be a banal mill of the abbey of Postel. In 1970, the mill was sold to the municipality. After a thorough and lengthy restoration, the mill was officially put back into use on 25 May 2002.
Next to the mill is the bakery museum. Here it is shown how bread was baked from the flour in the traditional way. The oven is still heated in the old way with sticks. While the bread is rising, the museum visitors are given a tour of the mill and can visit the museum shop. This combination of mill and bakery makes it possible to follow the entire process from grain to bread in a short space of time. Since the entire baking process takes two hours, baking is only possible upon reservation.
