At the Watersnoodhuis in Stavenisse, you can find all the information you need about the devastating 1953 Watersnoodramp on islands Tholen and Sint-Philipsland.

Between 03.00 and 06.00 on the night of 1 February 1953, as many as 70 dykes broke in the Netherlands. So too did some on Tholen and Sint-Philipsland. Very many people did not survive the disaster, many more lost everything.

You will also find the Watersnoodmonument in front of the Watersnoodhuis.
