Waterlandsmuseum the playtower - Monnickendam
Waterland is actually a wonderful accident. Human habitation changed the landscape, causing it to subside and flood. You can learn exactly how the waterland came into being in this museum from various exhibitions. Let yourself be carried along in the stories of the old places in the History Room. Discover why our carillon is the oldest carillon in the world still played in its original state. It is also false, and yet that false sound is so historically important that it should never be altered. Children from 4 to 12 years old can let off steam in the Junior Attic.

These opening hours are from April to October. In July and August also open on Mondays from 13.00-17.00. From November to March, only open on Saturday and Sunday from 11.00-17.00.
