Water tower The Reusch of Schimmert - Schimmert
The water tower was designed by architect Jos Wielders, who was inspired by the Amsterdam School. Built in 1926, the tower had a reservoir of 1150 cubic metres. Until World War II, a restaurant was located at the top. Now it is the knowledge centre of local products. A visit to the water tower tells you about the richness of Limburg's soil and makes you aware of your food, where it comes from and its sustainability.
The water tower houses a wide variety of activities related to food and drink. You will find a micro-brewery, restaurant and even a taste theatre. All the products used come from a radius of 46 kilometres. That is exactly the distance you can see from the tip of the water tower.
