The water tower in Meerkerk has been in private ownership for a number of years and can therefore not be visited from the inside. Nevertheless, there is something to tell about this tower, which rises almost 60 metres above the village. It is one of the first concrete water towers in our country, designed by Technisch Adviesbureau Nederlandse Gemeenten and built in 1936. It can contain 560 cubic metres of water. Quite a lot when it comes down, but still only enough for half an hour's water use...
