Born in Oudewater, Jacobus Arminius was a professor of theology. His revolutionary views on free will almost sparked a nationwide civil war between 1608 and 1618. On his ‘own square’, the Arminiusplein in Oudewater, stands a stainless steel bust of the professor. This bust was placed to honour him.
