Nature park De Vloeivelden in De Krim is a special area with a unique history. Originally, this area was a rinse-water basin of potato starch factory AVEBE. When the factory closed its doors in 1990, nature was given a chance to develop here. Slowly but surely, the area became attractive to a wide variety of birds. Several rare species found a home here, such as the black-necked grebe, common tern, black-headed gull, garganey, long-eared owl, barn owl and bluethroat. The natural wealth attracts both birdwatchers and nature lovers, who can enjoy the tranquillity and impressive birdlife here.
From the observation tower, you can observe both the birds and the natural splendour.
