The Vecht Regional Museum is housed in a historic building: the former Huize Silversteyn. This house was converted in 1744 into the coach house of Goudestein, one of the many estates along the Vecht. It is beautifully situated in the park of Goudestein and right on the river. You can feel the 17th-century atmosphere here!
The museum is dedicated to showing and preserving the history of the Vecht region. Through various exhibitions, you can learn all about the rich history of the Vecht region, the many country houses along the Vecht and the development of the villages and towns along the river. You can also go on an audio tour.
Several times a year, a temporary art exhibition is organised. Several artists from the Vecht region can then exhibit their work.
In the museum you will also find the VVV Maarssen, for tourist information, walking routes and cycling maps.
