David De La Mano (1975, Salamanca, Spain) studied Fine Art at the University of Salamanca and obtained his PhD in Public Art at the University of Valencia. His black-and-white works are always about human masses and the environment, about their action and their fate.
David is interested in anthropology and the present. He observes others in their social or anti-social behaviour and incorporates this into his silhouettes of men, women or mass symbolising the stories of the past and the future.
His inspiration is the Italian artist and graffiti artist BLU, but he himself is now an inspiration to many. According to connoisseurs, his work is as relevant on the streets as it is in galleries.
On the initiative of some residents from Haarlem's Petrus Planciusstraat, David painted his ‘Uncertain Journey’ in 2019 with the silhouettes of mythical figures familiar to him, warriors using whales as boats.
To see this mural, it is best to go along the stairwell between Kampersingel 70 and 72 to the little square at the back, it is a bit tricky to find.
