The corn mill was built between 1616 and 1623 by order of the Count of Gronsveld. His name is engraved on a memorial stone at the foot of the mill. In 1766, the mill was raised over three metres. A rampart or belt was also erected around the base of the tower as an extra support, surrounded by a ring wall.
In 1822, new owner notary Jan Theodoor van Gulpen added a house, a stable and a barn. This enabled him to farm here. In 1923, the corn mill came into the possession of a baker for the first time: Henri Jacobs from Gronsveld. The mill operated professionally until 1930. During the Second World War, attempts were made to bring the mill back into use for food supplies. Due to lack of materials, this was not successful.
In 1944, the mill burned down completely. It was not until 1958 that the mill was restored using parts from mills in Horssen (Gelderland) and Maarheeze (North Brabant). In the 1970s, the mill was made millable again. To this day, grain is milled there, albeit on a voluntary basis.
