Elspeet is a real old Veluwe village. The name says it all. El' is old, & 'speet' is reclaimed. Old mining. Nunspeet means new mining. Elspeet stands for tranquillity in beautiful natural surroundings.
Fields around the old characteristic farms go over in forests, where many many wild lives. With a bit of luck you can see red deer, fallow deer, roe deer and wild boar. Even the shepherd still travels with his flock over the moors and in the summer months he gives explanations about the ins and outs of the sheepfold on specific dates.
In the Historical Museum, there are annual exhibitions about the Second World War. For only € 3, - per person you dive into the history of Elspeet and the Veluwe.
