In the Hof, you get to know about 400 species of higher plants, about 24 species of breeding birds and many more species of birds, animals and vegetation. A true nature paradise hidden in the Kennemer dunes where you can completely relax and immerse yourself in the world of dune woods, thickets, moss, butterflies, wild bees and dragonflies.
The official name is Thijsse's Hof, Plant and Bird Garden in the Bloemendaal Bosch. Established in 1925 by founder Dr Jac. P. Thijsse and also called by him 'instructive parkland'. Thijsse was a biologist, teacher, writer and conservationist. He meant a lot to nature in the Netherlands and was co-founder of Natuurmonumenten, the foundation in the Netherlands dedicated to nature conservation.
Thijsse's Hof is freely accessible. So, park your bike in the bike shed and allow yourself a walk in this special place.
