When you see the façade, you might think that this is also Goes' smallest shop, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the shop runs the length of the building. The Visser family started a shop on the corner of Lange Kerkstraat and Papegaaistraat back in 1836. They sold all sorts of things. From the 1930s, the offer concentrated mainly on household goods and toys. Since 1990, only toys have been sold.
The range may have become more specialised over the years, but the family behind it is still the same: the Visser family. A visit to the shop is a treat for young and old alike. Toys are still sold, for example, from brands that were also sold in the 1950s. Model trains in particular are a speciality. Of course, the range is also expanding with new games.
Unfortunately, the shop is no longer open daily. You can still take a look inside on Fridays and Saturdays until December 2024. After that, the toy shop will stop. What will come next in Goes' oldest storefront is still unknown.
