This mill has stood on Havelaar Street since 1727. Because another mill was later built in Colijnsplaat, this mill bears the apt name 'De Oude Molen'. It has a royal touch: the old craft mill was in fact owned by the Princes of Orange. In those days, everyone was obliged to have their corn ground by this mill. If you did not, or had flour and bread imported, you were fined heavily.
Remarkably, the mill has two colours: one half is plastered in a pure white, while the other half retains its brown bricks. Grain is still ground at the mill. Visiting the inside can be done by appointment.
