The North Quay in Veghel is a cultural and creative centre located on the site of the former CHV factory. CHV stands for Coöperatieve Handels Vereniging, a factory founded in 1919 as a cooperative of farmers in order to trade and process their agricultural products.
The factory mainly produced cattle feed, grain and dairy products. As the agricultural sector changed and the take-up of the cooperative movement declined, the CHV factory lost its function.
Today, it houses several cultural institutions, including Theatre De Blauwe Kei, the PopEi pop academy, Phoenix Culture and the Proeffabriek. It is a vibrant place where art, culture and entrepreneurship come together. It regularly hosts events, festivals and markets, making it an important cultural destination in Veghel and the region.
A visit around the grounds introduces you to hip and unusual taste experiences, while you can still see old factory traces everywhere. Do you recognise the old factory machinery, lamps made from grain hoppers and an old clock from NS railway station 's-Hertogenbosch?
