Friesland is the ice skating province of the Netherlands. At The Skating Museum in Hindeloopen, you can relive all your skating memories. Discover how ice skating has played a role in the lives of the Frisians for centuries. Admire the largest ice skating and sledge collection in the world and walk past the exhibition on the history of the Eleven Cities Tour.
Authentic workshops of different crafts have been set up. You can see how everything worked in the pottery, smithy, carpenter's workshop, lacquer shop and leather workshop and how this was related to ice skating.
Finally, you can see the development and history of Hindelooper Painting. Indeed, the town had developed its own genre of painting in which furniture, utensils and even houses were decorated in beautiful, ornate flowers and motifs.
