Anyone expecting to see a dome here will be disappointed: where a dome once stood, all you see now is a bench. But the Koepel van Viruly did stand here once. Grand landowner and Liberal Member of Parliament for the Upper House Viruly had a dome built here from which you had a wonderful view. And from where you could spot game, because Viruly was also a hunter.
By around 1920, the view had already diminished considerably, because the surrounding oak trees had grown through and were no longer being regularly felled. Today, only the foundations of the dome remain; the beautiful building was demolished in 1973. There is a bench and if you are quiet, you can spot wildlife from your high vantage point at the end of the afternoon.
